Ohio University police are investigating the report of a shooting at Gamertsfelder residence hall at Ohio University in Athens Tuesday afternoon, police said.
While school officials say the university is not on lockdown, reports indicate East Green — where Gamertsfelder Hall is located — has been evacuated and people are urged to avoid the area.
Police say alerts and text messages have gone out to students and faculty.
Gamertsfelder Hall is a four-floor building with more than 150 rooms, housing co-ed, first-year and upperclassmen.
The residence hall houses ROTC students in the fall and spring — but, not summer.
