President Obama cut short the sentences of 214 federal prisoners on Wednesday.
The prisoners, the president commuted, were serving time for nonviolent crimes related to drug use. Some prisoners that were commuted were serving life sentences.
During his presidency, Obama has made a push to lessen the burden on nonviolent drug offenders.
